Helpful advice for him or her ttc?1 Best Answer gets 10points!?

My husband and I are ttc, does anyone have any helpful hints, advice, anything? Thanks for helping!Helpful advice for him or her ttc?1 Best Answer gets 10points!?
Chance plays a major role in determining when you get pregnant. On average, if the sperm arrive when the egg is ready for fertilization, only about 30 percent of women will miss their next menstrual period and have a positive pregnancy test. The remaining 70 percent, despite doing everything right, will have to wait and try again. When you're trying to become pregnant, these odds can seem just fine if you are in the 30 percent group and conceive within the first few months, but it can be very frustrating if your number doesn't come up.

Rumors abound as to when is the best time in a woman's cycle to conceive, how frequently a couple should have intercourse, which sexual practices and positions are most effective, and whether it decreases your odds of getting pregnant if you stand up immediately after intercourse. Here are the facts.

Best time to conceive

Ovulation occurs 14 days before the next period comes. For women with a 28-day cycle, this is about day 14; in women with a 35-day cycle, this would be around day 21; and in women with a 23-day cycle, this might be day 9. If you have a varied number of days between periods, you won't be able to accurately predict ovulation without using additional means, such as an ovulation detection kit.

Sperm can live in the woman's body for a few days, waiting for the egg, but the egg only lives about 24 hours once ovulation has occurred. Because of this, sex a few days before ovulation is more likely to produce a pregnancy than is sex a day or two later.

Frequency of intercourse

In couples with normal fertility, how often they have sex isn't important as long as the sperm are there in time to meet up with the egg. That said, maximal sperm counts are seen with ejaculation at 24- to 48-hour intervals, so ';saving up'; sperm for the big occasion probably won't help and may actually decrease your chances of conception. In general, couples should have sex at whatever interval feels right to them (which may be once a day or once every few weeks), with extra attention given to having sex at least every other day around ovulation time.

Sexual practices

There is no evidence that one position for intercourse is better than any other, as long as the penis is inside the vagina during ejaculation. Female orgasm is not required. Some lubricants used for sex can kill sperm, so if you are using a lubricant, make sure it's nontoxic. One other interesting issue: The testes hang outside the body because sperm number and motility are higher at cooler temperatures, so taking a hot bath before trying to conceive probably doesn't help a man's chances and may actually temporarily diminish his fertility.

Moving around afterward

Many women worry that because semen often runs back out of the vagina after sex, there won't be enough sperm left inside to fertilize the egg. Amazingly, sperm are already in the cervix moments after ejaculation. No evidence has been found to show that lying with legs or hips raised after sex improves fertility.

You'll probably want to avoid douching immediately after intercourse, however, since douches may be mildly toxic to sperm.Helpful advice for him or her ttc?1 Best Answer gets 10points!?
I agree with reading the book ';Taking Charge of Your Fertility';. Taking your temp everyday and charting it is very helpful not only to you but if you aren't pregnant in 6 months or so, it will also help your dr diagnose you. You can chart for free at www.fertilityfriend.com.

Also, when you realize when your ';fertile window'; is.. my OB told me to have sex every other day instead of every day. It gives the sperm a chance to replenish themselves and be bigger to penetrate your egg.

No matter what your temps do.. keep BDing through the egg white stretchy CM.

After sex, lay still and put a pillow under your butt for about 30 minutes. Some people say this is dumb and not needed but I think it does help more sperm swim to the cervix area.

Besides that, I don't know of anything else.

GOOD LUCK and I hope you get pregnant soon!
There are ALOT of things you can do! You can track your BBT (Basal Body Temp.) Do this by taking your temp. first thing in the morning when you wake up. When you ovualte your BBT should increase any where from .05 degrees to a whole degree. If it stays risen for more than 2 weeks, you could be pregnant. Another way is to use ovulation predictor kits to look for your most fertile day (s) based upon your LH surge. Some women also believe that you can go by your CM. (Cervical Mucas). If it is the consistancey of raw egg whites, then supposedly that is when you are most fertile, and ovulating. Another tip would be to have sex every other day from days 10 - 17 of your cycle. Day 1 would be the first day of your period. There are alot of different things you can do. Best wishes, good luck, and happy TTC!!!!!
First, I would try to do it good ol' missionary. Lying on your back is easier so that the sperm wont fall out easy. It also helps a LOT if after intercourse, you lie down with a pillow under your bottom to give the sperm a chance to reach your cervix. I would sit for ten minutes or so and dont rush to the bathroom to try and get it out.

Knowing your ovulation days are key as well. The average women ovulates ten to fifteen days after their last period. There are also signs to look for:

You will notice a HUGE increase of discharge which will be clear, instead of white and creamy, and it will be very stretchy as well. You may also experience some mild cramping and bloating.

It's a good idea to have intercourse a few days before ovulation, then the day before and the day of. This will give you a huge chance of concieving!!

Also, dont overthink it because in some weird way, your body knows how to play tricks on you. So just go with the flow, and know it usually takes more than one time to get pregnant so dont give up.

Good Luck, baby dust!

i hope it turns out easy for you both

god bless!!
HAVE LOTS OF SEX!!!!!!!!!!!! GOOD LUCK %26amp; GOD BLESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
1. Read the book ';Taking charge of your fertility';

2. THen try to figure out when (and if) you ovulate and what is your fertile window (typically anywhere from day 10 to day 20 of your cycle)

3. TTC daily during the fertile window (if sperm count is an issue, TTC every other day)

4. Be positive, it may take time but it WILL happen. If already six to nine months of trying, go see a doctor and do the basic fertility testing.

Good luck.
we are ttc as well and if you haven't tried the ovulation test stripes that is a start also you can go to this website and chart and track all of your symptoms and it will give you what is your estimated ovulation day and fertile days good luck to you and lots of baby dust
